A romantic dinner for two can be lovely; especially by candlelight with long stemmed flutes of champagne.  This type of dinner can be expensive to go out to or difficult to create on your own at home–and sometimes it seems a little too much for just wanting to spend some nice time together.

**Keep in mind, taking your significant other out for surprise fancy dinner is very romantic, especially if it is a “just because” reason.

Something you and your lovely partner can do together that doesn’t require as much dressing up as the romantic dinner for two on the town is to make dessert together.

After your typical (and maybe even boring) meal together you can nonchalantly pull the hiding ingredients from the refrigerator.  Begin stirring up your chocolate syrup and enticing your partners sweet tooth with smells of the liquid chocolate.

Chocolate covered strawberries are decadent.  Buy some big, fat ripe strawberries from your local market, wash them up and let them dry.  Dip them into your hot pan of chocolate and watch the chocolate goodness thicken into mouthwatering dessert.

This romantic date idea can be used for those of you looking to spice up one night in a row of mundane nights.  You can do this for first dates too!

Aslo, make sure you have other foods that go well with chocolate (what doesn’t go well with chocolate!)

Although I love chocolate strawberries, your date could have a strawberry allergy.  Be equipped with pretzels, raspberries, marshmallows and banana.  Chocolate covered ANYTHING is delicious!

when was the last time you and your significant other brushed the dirt off your shoes and kicked it around the block for a few minutes? Walking around the neighborhood can sure seem like a chore after a day at the office, but give it a try.

Walking can help you relieve stress, unwind, get healthy, and most importantly, get close to your special someone.

I discovered this trick from my cousin who often takes walks with his girlfriend to shed stress and spend some time together.

A few weeks ago, after a long and painstaking day at the office, I offered up to my girlfriend that I wanted to walk with her around the neighborhoods, possibly grab some ice cream or just around the park.

She couldn’t wait to go for it!

At around 7 p.m., we headed out, walking nearly 2 miles, and I hardly noticed the time fly by as we walked through parks and streets and chatted about our days and families and … you know the rest.

On the way home, we even ran across a jazz band that was playing on the lawn of one of our neighbors. We didn’t stop by, but on a nice summer evening, capping a walk with some nice live jazz really seemed to some up what we all need – just some time to spend with one another (and a little exercise, too!).

What’s so original about a sunset, you ask?

For starters: Everything.

Every time the sun expires, you are watching an event that has never happened before in the history of the world. Sure, sunsets have occurred countless times, but how many times has the sun trailed off while you were sneaking neck pecks and playing footsies in the sand?

This is a whole and unique event. And depending on where you live, you may not even have to stay up too late to watch a sunset.

So here’s the supplies you need:

• A loved one
• Blanket (optional)
• A few stolen moments

Whisper sweet nothings and hold your loved one close. You are witnessing an event that no two other people in the entire world will experience in the same way at the same moment. You are bold and dwarfed by the awesomeness of the universe.

In the moments that the sun is sinking, pull him or her a little closer and reflect on your incredible luck that you two found one another in this great world.

Now for those who can’t be near a beach, you’re still in luck!

If you live in a city, find some roof access to your building or nearby. You’re likely to find it one way or another. This might be another romantic twist in your plot to snuggle up. Find a place that’s new and exciting and you’ll score extra romance points.

And since you’re not at the beach, why not bring the beach to you?

Here’s a simple idea for you that won’t cost too much – slow dancing the night away. Tell your significant other you’d like to spend some time with them Friday night, and ask them to divvy out some time for you to to spend alone, but don’t tell them what you’ll be doing (*romance points begin!)

For this romantic idea, you are going to be taking your love interest to a quiet park or an out-of-the-way lookout somewhere overlooking your town. But we have to get some things in place first.

Spend the remainder of your week:

1. Picking out romantic songs and getting them on your MP3 player
2. Buying 4 AAA batteries
3. Ordering a portable iPod speaker system (battery operated) – $5.95 + shipping
4. Learning to slow dance

Forget your crumbs-between-the-sheets worries and take a tip from hollywood. Breakfast in bed works!

Stop by your local Kiwanis club and pick up a couple of bed serving trays. Not only will this help keep the bed clean but it’s easier to deliver food and eat from.

A meal as simple as scrambled eggs, toast and orange juice will surely score you some points. But since you can plan this idea, why not try your hand at doing something extra special, like croissant French toast and soft caramel apples.

You’ll likely have many of the ingredients, but you might want to make sure you’re stocked with vanilla extract, confectioners’ sugar, cinnamon and croissants. And if you try it, make sure you get up early. The cooking time takes about 35 minutes.
